Loop21 offers to be the full provider of the Internet access to your guests, tourists, citizens, clients or just users. To identify every single user, Loop21 developed two registration modules:
To use Internet, the user has to log in by using their username and password. Thanks to this log-in procedure, everything that has been done in the Internet can be led back to the single user.
This module is designed to let the user register them by themselves. Using the Loop21 hotspot the first time, users have to register once. Dependent on the home country of the hotspot and its specific situation of law, users have to name personal data such as name, address, birth date etc. Apart from that, a number of a mobile phone is obligatory. These data are assigned to each person when registering and are subject of the strict private policy of Loop21.
Immediately after sending the registration, the user will get their username and password via text message (SMS). Now the user can log-in by identifying themselves with the unique user data they have received.
The login/registration pages are adapted to all current end devices continuously. Therefore, an easy handling with laptops as well as mobile phones (smartphones) is possible.
This unique feature of this sort of user authentication can offer hotspot providers the big advantage that no staff (such as in a bar or a hotel) has to be involved during the internet log-in process of the single user! Users will register independently for the hotspot.
Another form of authentication is the so-called “Ticket registration”: If the hotspot provider wants to hand out “Internet tickets”, it is advisable to implement this module. Then, the user gets a generated Username and Password to log-in into the hotspot. The hotspot provider has to take care about the legal obligations (e.g. identifying who has got which ticket).
