Module: LBS (Location-Based Service)
Loop21 offers a new additional module, which is added to the Loop21 hotspot system. The central function of this module is the possibility to locate users. Therefore, it is possible to find out the exact position of a guest or customer within the hotspot's area (RTLS, real-time location service). This enables you to communicate strategically with guests or customers.
The LBS – location-based service – module can be used as a customer guidance system for interactive customer relationships or support at the PoS (Point of Sale). According to the current trend, the interactivity at a PoI (Point of Interest) can now be made more modern and media-based. For instance, a location-based app (mobile application) or website allows target-oriented communication with customers.
Loop21 developed a special Landing Page for the LBS module. It runs on every device, e.g. iPhone, iPad, Android, Nokia Symbion, Blackberry, etc. So, the users start their web browser and are directly provided with location dependant input via the Landing Page. The contents of this page are adapted to the hotspot provider’s ideas. Used as an instrument for modern and local infotainment, the wi-fi hotspot becomes a “magic bullet” for customer relationship management.
The location-based module is a special wi-fi component that makes it possible to locate a user within the wi-fi network area. This possibility of locating users via wi-fi is unique because:
- NO GPS (takes long to locate; is unprecise)
- NO RFID (high costs of implementation)
are required. However, hybrid solutions are of course possible.
Some examples for the outdoor use of the Loop21 localisation are: Guidance systems for town areas, theme parks, zoos, hiking resorts, tourism centres, ski resorts, parks, sightseeing guides, etc.:

Prostredníctvom lokalizácie je možné obsah informácií cielene prispôsobovať konkrétnej polohe užívateľa, čo vedie k oveľa efektívnejšiemu využitiu zdrojov pri inzercii, reklame, mimoriadnych ponukách a poskytovaní informácií. Pomocou účelových informácií je ďalej možné správanie užívateľov analyzovať a kontrolovať. Keďže väčšina hostí/návštevníkov už takéto zariadenia (napr. smartphony) vlastní, spĺňa tak prvý predpoklad pre lokalizáciou pomocou systému firmy Loop21.
Lokalizačný systém spoločnosti Loop21 nájde však uplatnenie nielen v exteriéri ale aj interiéri ako sprievodca v múzeách, nákupných strediskách, supermarketoch, obchodoch s hardvérovým vybavením, verejných budovách, pamiatkach atď.
