LOOP21 Wikimedia Hackathon @ Jufa Hotel Wien City 2017

Vienna (pts/2017-05-23) The Wikimedia Hackathon is a major event that brings together 200-300 developers from all around the world to improve the technological infrastructure of Wikipedia. Nach Lyon und Jerusalem kam der Wikmedia Hackathon zum ersten Mal vom 19-21. Mai nach Wien ins JUFA Hotel Wien City.

Wikimedia hackathons are generally collaborative computer programming events which specifically focus on technologies and projects powering Wikipedia and thousands of MediaWiki installations. Wikimedia hackathons are essentially large development community meetups that attract many developers and designers who care deeply about the issues and technology impacting MediaWiki and the Wikimedia projects. Many companies and organisations worldwide use the software MediaWiki as basis for their intern knowledge management or customizing services, including the European Space Agency.

High Capacity WLAN
LOOP21 installed a High Capacity RUCKUS Wi-Fi with 100 Mbit/s Uplink for the participant, who where with 1-2 devices online. Annemarie Buchmann of the organisation team thanks above all for the ambitious application on the assembly day and the finally great cooperation with the JUFA IT team. Two “records” were broken: it was the up to now most-visited Hackathon and there were no problems with Internet and Wi-Fi.

LOOP21 was beside of Google the second largest sponsor.
